Variegated Vanilla Orchid (Vanilla Planifolia) Starter Plant
Variegated Vanilla Orchid (Vanilla Planifolia) Starter Plant
Grow your own vanilla beans and enjoy the stunning foliage of this dainty variegated beauty! A member of the orchid family, planifolia produces a bean that, when cured, reveals the delicious flavoring appreciated by bakers. A somewhat slow-growing vine, it needs a structure to hold on to: a steak or a trellis will do nicely. Once it has matured, reaching the top of the support, it will start producing flowers. The beautiful orchid flowers last a day at which time hand pollination must be used to produce the bean.
