Philodendron Billietiae
Philodendron Billietiae
Billietiae reminds me of an alien monster, with its long hanging ridged leaves, however, we are not fooled by the outer-space appearance: this epiphyte is just as chill and happy as its Araceae cousins.
Lover of bright indirect light, “Billie” loves to climb and actively shoots out aerial roots, making itself appear even more alien-looking. Chunky soil is a must: those thick roots need something to hold on to! Add plenty of Perilite and large bark or coco husk to your aroid mix and watch the guy thrive.
Regular watering is preferred, but Billie will not pull an Alocasia and get upset if you’re a day or two late: option out for a glazed or ceramic pot is always an option to avoid the soil drying out too quickly.
